Pre-established Connection(Whisper me if interested): One might know Velvet if they're the type who does research or is involved in trading/travelling along the Bounty. If you've been to Radz-at-Han, Hingashi, or even Garlemald and came to offer mercantile business, there's a good chance you ran into Velvet.Smuggler/Socialite: Velvet is a socialite who has many connections across the star, and uses those connections to help set up trade between interested parties. She will also offer to deliver items between parties, working as a middle-woman when it would be too difficult for one or the other party to meet(either due to Geographical, Logistical, Political, or Legal boundaries). As such, though she resides in her home of Kugane, she's often travelling frequently for work to ensure her clients get what they need, when they need it, where they need it. These connections also give her access to certain services or privileges others may be barred to access.Researcher: As one who is curious about most things, anyone who would consider themselves a historian or researcher may have run into Velvet. Her specific fields of study are aetherical, specializing in understanding personal aether. The woman also has an interest in the void, though this isn't something she talks about on a regular basis.Outside of her aetherological and (hidden)voidic pursuits, she is also quite well researched on history and culture of many locales, as this is necessary for her work.Alchemists from all over, gleaners and researchers from Sharlayan, aetherical researchers from Eorzea and Orthard, and historians/storytellers from all walks of life may have crossed paths with her.Criminal: Though carrying herself as a legit business woman and with a slight air of regal bearing, Velvet often deals with people on the lower end of most social structures simply because of what she offers. This has her dealing with many ne'er do wells and darker individuals, known for interacting with such folk to the point where her name has been whispered by a few when searching for contacts or information.While she does have connections to those in high society within different locales, including places like Radz-et-Han, Garlemald, Hingashi, and even a noble or two in Ishgard, such connections do not often give her any status outside of such.Velvet does have status....in Garlemald. Information

Velvet Rubra hails from Kugane, and considers herself to be a researcher, of sorts. Her interest lies not only in the aetherical, but also the personal and historical. She enjoys listening to the stories of everyone she meets, and prefers going out in the field to perform her research rather than staying indoors with a book. There are very few questions she is unwilling to ask, and one may even say that she has a rather...dangerous sort of curiosity.Though Hingashi is rather isolationist and xenophobic, Velvet rarely shows such traits. She is often more concerned with learning about a person and getting work done than she is with the fact that they may be foreign to her home(especially as she's often meeting people outside of Kugane anyways).

Personality

Velvet's personality is hard to describe, but she seems to always have a bit of a professional air about her. Despite this she always attempts to come off as warm and welcoming. There are two things however that one will note about Velvet shortly after meeting her; a near endless curiosity, and a surprising lack of concern for her own personal safety.While she might not have the temperament one would associate with hard-headedness, there is a resilience and determination that she exhibits when met with difficulty. She does not give up easily, especially when denied an answer to one of her many questions. She's been told she has a.....dangerous curiosity.That said, she has has lived for over 170 years, and it shows both in the way she interacts with others and the world around her. She need not find accomplish what she set out to do right away, but she also feels that she has both far more time and far less time time to learn about those around her than those of shorter lived races.

Appearance

Velvet carries herself with a professional air about her, though her appearance can be, disarming. Her voice carries a distinct tone to it, the little purrs of her Vieran dialect combining with the sharp Hingashi accent create a uniquely appealing sound. With little effort she comes across as sensually alluring, though none of this is intentional on her part, least not usually, and can sometimes create problems where her actual intent is misconstrued or outright ignored.Her crimson hair comes down in soft silken waves over her shoulders, framing the soft, warm features of her face. Emerald eyes glow softly with what may be described as an aetheric light. Atop her head she usually wears a beret, but also sometimes wears bifocal glasses atop her small nose.She prefers to wear flowing garments, whether she be in battle or simply socializing at a bar. Her attire is usually asymmetrical as well, usually sporting silken dresses with frills or light armor that is adorned with fabrics that drape softly over her frame.Her attire adorns across a rather toned physique with subtle yet noticeable curves. It's clear from a glance that though the woman has a breadth of knowledge, she most certainly does not gather it through bookish pursuits, if possible.
